Gucci renews its commitment to environmental responsibility presenting a new version of sunglasses made from Liquid Wood, a biodegradable and eco-friendly material that represents an alternative to the plastic usually used in the production of eyewear. Liquid Wood is originally made from bio-based materials: wood fibre from sustainably managed forests, lignin from the paper manufacturing process and natural wax.

These new sunglasses feature a square upsweep silhouette shape with mineral glass lenses, which enhance the impeccable quality and the elegance of this new model.
This eco-friendly style comes in new wood-effect shades, in nuances of grey, burgundy and brown.

As part of a worldwide eco-friendly program designed to progressively reduce the company’s impact on the environment, Gucci sunglasses feature 100% recyclable packaging with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Certified paper, while the unique fold-able cases minimizes stock space, limiting both the weight and amount of shipments and in turn helping to reduce 60% of CO2 emissions.

The new version of Liquid Wood sunglasses will be available at Gucci boutiques and selected high-end opticians worldwide from October 2013.
