Eyewear industry expert and brand manager of Ermenegildo Zegna, Mr. Sunil Joseph has put together some practical tips to help you decide on the right frame. “Eyeglasses or spectacles become necessary when people have problems with their vision. If you can’t see something at a distance or can’t focus on something near, then you are either nearsighted or farsighted. Both of these conditions require immediate correction. One should look for the following before buying frames or lenses-
Size of Frame– To begin with, always ensure that your frame is not too big or too small for your face. Not only is that uncomfortable, but you also can get a headache if you’re not looking through the optical centers of the lenses.
Type of Frame – Choose the right frame material for your prescription eyeglasses, whether you need it to be lightweight, flexible, strong, or hypoallergenic. While plastic frames are good for thick lenses, as they mask some of the edge thickness, metal frames offer a lower-profile look with their thin rims and refined colors.
Fit of frame – No matter which material you choose, the frame should fit properly. The frame should be comfortable, rest gently behind your ears and be adjusted to the plane of your nose. Temple ends and glasses that pinch are problems that should not arise with the right frame.
Good quality lens – All lenses can be scratched, but a coating can be applied to make the lens surface harder. Clear ultra-violet coatings filter out harmful UV rays to protect your eyes from sun damage. Additionally lightweight lenses are recommended for those with a high or heavy prescription.
