Optical Trade Fair 2014 Organised In Ludhiana

For the first time an event of such a scale was held in Ludhiana, where biggies from the Indian optical industry showcased their finest products

S.S Exhibitor recently organised the Optical Trade Fair 2014, held in association with Optical Association Punjab, at Hotel Gulmor, Ludhiana, from November 1-2. The trade fair was inaugurated by Manoranjan Kaliya (MLA, Punjab). Harish Rai Dhanda (Ex MLA), Madan Lal Bagga (District Chairperson, Shiromani Akali Dal, Ludhiana), Arunesh Mishra (Punjab Working Member, BJP), Dr Subhash Verma (Punjab Working Member, BJP), Sardar Savran Singh (Member of Sales Tax Community, Punjab) and Pradeep Thukral (Osho Acharya and Thukral Optical) were also present during the inauguration ceremony.

The stage was hosted by Sardar Davinder Kalda (Kalra Optical and Ex District Governor Lions Club). President of the Optical Association Punjab, Subhash Bansal (Dr Bansal Optics Pvt Ltd) welcomed all guests and attendees to the fair.

Speaking on the occasion, Madan Lal Bagga assured that the Akali BJP Government will extend its full support to the optical business and trade fair as well the Optical Association. Harish Rai Dhanda congratulated S.S. Exhibitor and the Optical Association for a well-organised event. He expressed his concerns about the increasing popularity of online retail of optical goods, and advised store owners and others working in the industry to safeguard themselves from the competition.

Manoranjan Kaliya stated that he was fully aware of the difficulties facing the optical trade. He expressed his readiness to share ideas that will help the Indian optical business to compete with its international counterparts. He also promised to open an optometry college in Punjab.

Big names from the optical industry exhibited at the trade fair, including Essilor, Satisloh, Gajjar Group, Luxottica, Thukral Optical and Suprol. VisionPlus Magazine and NIMS University were also among those exhibiting.

The trade fair was attended by optical shop owners from Punjab, Haryana, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh and other states. 461 and 2,134 owners registered themselves on the first and second day of the fair respectively.

S.S Exhibitor also organised a lot of fun activities, including a cocktail dinner and cultural programme, during the event. Visitors also enjoyed the entertaining performances, sponsored by Thukral Optical Works, Delhi, by national and international artists.
