Silmo Istanbul Optical Fair 2014 To Be Held In December

The optical fair has a new and improved scope, and opens its gates to local and international visitors from 11-14 December

Istanbul, selected as the European Cultural Metropolis in 2010 and recognised as the economical and cultural metropolis of Turkey, has always been the commercial centre of the Turkish Optic sector thanks to it being a bridge between Europe and Asia. Istanbul Optics Fair (ISOF), first organised in 2013 with the vision to bring together the who’s who from the world of fashion, arts, sports and economy with those from the optics sector, is now taking a new step. ISOF, with the aim to enhance the scope of the Turkish optical industry in the international arena and improve the commercial volume of the optical industry in Turkey, has tied up with Silmo Paris, which recently celebrated its 47th year and is one of the leading optical fairs in the world. The fair will throw open its doors to national and international visitors in halls 9 and 10 in the Istanbul Exhibition Center in Yeokby from 11 to 14 December, 2014. The fair will be held in 12,000 square metres of exhibition area.

ISOF, the single specialised fair of Turkey in the optics sector, is also enhancing its scope of coverage with its new name and brand. Silmo lstanbul Optics Fair aims to boost the sector by establishing a major commercial platform by ensuring cooperation between all relevant companies, providing services aimed at branding and design development, and displaying innovative products.

ISOF, first organised in 2013 between 26-29 December, was a successful event that saw participation from 89 domestic and 3 international companies, the Ministry of Health of Turkey, Social Security Institution (SGK), Association of Optical Industrialists of Turkey, Confederation of Opticians, All Optic and Optometric Professionals’ Association. The 2013 event also welcomed a total of 11,850 visitors from 2,128 optician institutions (Turkey), 72 foreign optician institutions, including 128 corporate visitors related to the sector and 260 independent visitors.

Silmo lstanbul 2014 will see more than 400 national and international brands display everything from optical glasses to contact lenses, contact lens accessories, maintenance equipments, sunglasses, ophthalmological instruments and accessories, diagnosis and treatment devices, tools for optical workshops and laboratories, glass parts, optical industry machinery and all new technological developments in the sector. Istanbul Exhibition Center is also providing all kinds of infrastructure and transportation facilities to visitors and exhibitors.
