BAP_3169This fair is renowned for its good reputation among optical industry professionals and has on display a variety of products such as frames, spectacles, lenses, instruments and other optical-related products such as accessories and also packaging.

The fair held in 2013 saw participation from 700 exhibitors from 26 countries and regions and almost 1400 buyers from around 100 countries and regions. This year too, the fair holds a lot of promise and aims to uphold the tradition of growth.

This makes Hong Kong not just a powerful regional optical industry but also the third largest exporter of spectacles and frames in the world. To add to it, the city has a vibrant and active design community which creates hot looks and sets international trends as well.

Hence, it is not surprising that an increasing number of buyers from emerging markets such as Egypt, South Africa, Indonesia and Vietnam, are choosing the Hong Kong Optical Fair as a prime Czech Republic and Mexico for optical products.

The show’s specialised zones showcases the newest fashion releases as well as the ‘nuts and bolts’ of the optical industry in separate categories. Other fair zones include Contact Lens Accessories, Diagnostic Instruments, Eyewear, Frames & Lens, Equipment & Machinery and Sporting & Professional Eyewear as well as Trade Services.

Apart from sourcing the latest products, the fair also provides a good opportunity for networking and gaining market insights. A series of seminars have been designed to cover an array of hot industry issues, product trends and market developments. For example, the 12th Hong Kong Optometric Conference aims to bring together international speakers and experts to the fair. This time the topic of the conference is ‘Development of Optometry for the Future’, which examines the latest developments in the field.

With the 2013 fair being received well, the 2014 event, which is yet to begin, has already started creating a buzz in the industry and intends to go on a bigger scale with 180 renowned brands. The Optical Fair takes place concurrently with HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair, the Premier Asia Wine event.
