IVI Young Leaders Program Progresses To Its Batch III

Hyderabad housing IVI Young Leaders Program kickstarts its Batch III with associating 9 young leaders in its bag to generate awareness about eye care, optometry education and research

India Vision Institute (IVI) initiative Young Leaders Program (YLP) came upon its 3rd year batch after successfully imparting leadership role in achieving excellence in the eyecare industry since its commencement in 2013.

Welcoming the new batch of YLP, Mr. Vinod Daniel, CEO-IVI shared his opinion, “India urgently needs more leaders in eye care to meet the huge challenge of dealing with preventable blindness and I am delighted to see young professionals in optometry eager to take up a leadership role”. IVI Young Leaders Program was brought to existence so that it can inspire and equip youngsters with the necessary leadership for achieving growth in eyecare. rsz_ylp_image

The third batch of the IVI Young Leaders Program (YLP 2015-16) commenced in Hyderabad with the inaugural two-day workshop for a group of nine young leaders from optometry institutions across India.

Over a period of one year, the program will comprise three intensive two-day workshops with an opportunity for the participants to engage with national and international experts. The workshop will focus on core leadership and management aspects along with subject related themes including Optometry education and research, social enterprise, marketing and promotion and public health. The program will also include field visits and group projects to be undertaken by the participants.

The 2015 group comprises the following young leaders:

  2. Anand Kumar- L V Prasad Eye Institute, Vishakhapatnam
  3. Anton Decruse Waanbah- Bansara Institute of Ophthalmic Science, Shillong
  4. Chandrashekher M- India Vision Institute
  5. Kiran Challa- L V Prasad Eye Institute,Hyderabad
  6. Paula Mehta- Optometry Council of India, Bangalore
  7. Pooja Singh- All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi
  8. Prem Kumar Singh- Dr Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital, New Delhi
  9. Soumendra Nath Ghosh- NSHM Knowledge Campus, Kolkata

Established in October 2011, IVI acts as a catalyst to help India achieve socially responsible, high quality vision care and an industry that can support state of the art Indian optometry, education and building leaders for the tomorrow of eyecare industry. IVI is an initiative of the L V Prasad Eye Institute of Hyderabad and the Brien Holden Vision Institute, Sydney. IVI has so far developed a pool of 20 young Optometry leaders, in the first two batches, excelling in their sphere of work in eye care delivery.
