Silmo Istanbul Optical Fair 2015 To Be Held In December

The optical fair has a new and improved scope, as it opens its gates to local and international visitors from 10th to 13th December

Silmo Istanbul Optical Fair 2015 will be a large scale event occupying a 16,000 square meter exhibition area in Halls 91012 and 14 of the Istanbul Expo Centre. This year’s fair will welcome professionals and manufacturers from the Turkish optics and eyewear industry and also, at a wider level, companies from both Europe and Asia involved in every aspect of the sector: frames, lenses, contact lenses, materials, services, etc. With exhibitor numbers rising, Silmo Istanbul aims to attract considerably higher visitor numbers (independent opticians, chains, manufacturers, distributors, institutions) from all the nations of the Central Asia, Middle East and North Africa region.

Istanbul, selected as the European Cultural Metropolis in 2010 and recognised as the economical and cultural metropolis of Turkey, has always been the commercial centre of the Turkish Optic sector thanks to it being a bridge between Europe and Asia. Istanbul Optics Fair (ISOF) was first organised in 2013 with the vision to bring together the who’s who from the world of fashion, arts, sports and economy with those from the optics sector.IMG_3643

ISOF promoted with the aim to enhance the scope of the Turkish optical industry in the international arena and improve the commercial volume of the optical  industry in Turkey, tied up with Silmo Paris to present the fair.

ISOF 2013 organised between 26th and 29th December, 2013 was a successful event that saw participation from 89 domestic and 3 international companies. The event was organised by the Ministry of Health of Turkey, Social Security Institution (SGK), Association of Optical Industrialists of Turkey, Confederation of Opticians and All Optic and Optometric Professionals’ Association. The 2013 event welcomed a total of 11,850 visitors from 2,128 optician institutions (Turkey), 72 foreign optician institutions, including 128 corporate visitors related to the sector and 260 independent visitors. Silmo lstanbul 2014 grew bigger and went on to attract national and international brands that displayed everything from optical glasses to contact lenses, contact lens accessories, maintenance equipments, sunglasses, ophthalmological instruments, diagnosis and treatment devices, tools for optical workshops and laboratories, glass parts, optical industry machinery as well as all new technological developments in the sector.

This year’s exhibition aims to build on the SILMO PARIS international network and leveraging the local expertise of its Turkish organisers 24 SATT AJANS. The Istanbul Exhibition Centre is also providing all kinds of infrastructure and transportation facilities to visitors and exhibitors to ensure better organisation of the fair.
