Essilor Opens Educational Facility For Eye Care Practitioners

The International Vision Academy or TIVA, located in Singapore, will help educate eye care practitioners in the areas of Management, Communication, Retail and Technical Training

Essilor has launched TIVA – The International Vision Academy – a one-of-its-kind facility from Essilor.

TIVA is an exciting new education facility which is a flagship education centre by the Essilor Group. This world-class education facility will help to educate eye care practitioners in the areas of Management, Communication, Retail and Technical Training.

The International Vision Academy is based in Singapore.  Professor Mo Jalie, widely recognised as an international authority on ophthalmic lenses officiated at the opening ceremony in the presence of Chairman and CEO of Essilor International, Hubert Sagnières and CEO of Essilor AMERA, Patrick Cherrier.

EssilorThe Academy’s Board of Advisors also took time off their busy schedule to attend the opening ceremony. Advisors, Dr Aisha Natto from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr Zhang Ying from China, Ms Helen Summers from Australia, A/Prof Emrullah Tasindi from Turkey, Dr Koh Liang Hwee from Singapore and Dr Aravind Srinivasan from India met on 18th September to provide inputs for the future development of the Academy.

The Academy covers almost 1,000 square metres of dedicated learning space with 3 principle areas. The first area is a 50-seat Lecture Theatre with simultaneous translation capability and real-time participant response system. The second area, The Collaborative Hub, offers a flexible learning configuration to facilitate large or small group discussions.

The Collaborative Hub also contains 5 fully-equipped Optometric consultation rooms where participants can hone their clinical proficiency. The Retail Hub is the third learning area where participants can sharpen their skills and techniques required for optical retail. The opening of this training facility further demonstrates Essilor’s commitment & support to the educational needs of the industry.

This training facility is open to all – there will be structured courses 4 times in a year in this facility. The facility can be booked by the entire countries of AMERA and can be used to run customised training programmes for each country.
