Dr. Mehta recently won a medal for the Best Surgical Video at the 3rd Annual Conference of Intraocular Implant and Refractive Society of India (IIRSI), 2019. Which was hosted in Chennai this year. Over 4,000 ophthalmologists from across the world took part in the event. The IIRSI 2019 witnessed the ‘Ophthalmic Premier League’, where participants showcased their most challenging cataract cases through videos.

Profile Of Dr Keiki R Mehta

Dr. Keiki R. Mehta is India’s leading consultant ophthalmic surgeon, medical researcher and writer. Known to be the first surgeon to perform a Radial Keratotomy in India, he’s also credited with the development of the first Soft Eye Implant in the world, and the Keiki Mehta BP Valve Glaucoma Shunt – a medical implant used in the treatment of neovascular‚ congenital and uveitic glaucoma. He has multiple awards and titles to his name. Referred as the Father of Indian Phacoemulsification, he is a recipient of several honours including the Grand Honors Award of the National Eye Research Foundation, Chicago and the Triple Ribbon Award of the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and several other awards in India. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of Padma Shri, in 2008, for his exceptional contributions to Medicine.
