IVI Felicitates Young Researchers

S Gayathri from SRM Medical College, SRM University, Potheri was awarded the recognition at a grand symposium hosted at IVI Hyderabad on 19th November this year

IVI Hyderabad announced the Optometry Researcher trophy for this year. The winner was announced at a symposium held at IVI Hyderabad on 19th November at which six shortlisted students presented their research projects. S Gayathri from SRM Medical College, SRM University, Potheri was awarded the best young Optometry Researcher for this year for her project on ‘Accommodative facility and response time before and after sustained near work in myopes and emmetropes’.IVI-2

“Launched in 2014, the IVI Young Optometry Researcher Rolling Trophy initiative promotes research among Optometry students in India. Presentations of projects made by bright young students reassures me about the progress of Optometry research in India”, IVI CEO, Mr Vinod Daniel observed on the occasion.

S Gayathri received a certificate and travel grant of INR 5000 enabling her to participate in a conference of her choice. SRM Medical College, SRM University was awarded the rolling trophy for the year 2015. Remaining five participants also received a certificate of participation and a memento included. These include Amrin A from Lotus Bausch and Lomb Institute of Optometry, Coimbatore; Keerthana K from Vasan Institute of Ophthalmology and Research, Chennai; Meganathan M from Nethradhama School of Optometry, Banglore; Olem Pradeep Rao from Bausch and Lomb School of Optometry, Hyderabad and Wewe Khalo from Bansara Institute of Ophthalmic Sciences, Meghalaya.IVI

All researat the symposium were evaluated by a panel of experts including Dr B R Shamanna and Dr P S Roopa Reddy from University of Hyderabad and Mr Nagesh Vuppalla from Neo Retina, Hyderabad. The inaugural award winner in 2014 was Hemanth Reddy from the Bausch and Lomb School of Optometry, India Vision Institute (IVI) is an independent, not-for-profit registered trust established in 2011. It is focused on supporting and promoting awareness, research, education and technological development in Indian optometry to advance capacity in vision correction and prevention of eye disease and blindness.
