ZEISS Develops New Training program For Opticians

The modules are an effort to address the ever-growing demand of trained salesperson to manage over the counter sales in an optical store

ZEISS Vision Care India is offering training programs for opticians to help them understand the nuances of the trade and accordingly grow in the profession.

The ZEISS Vision Advisor program is a basic course for the new counter sales staff and the ZEISS Vision Experts program is an advanced course for the experienced staff.

batch1The programs are designed to give opticians classroom training followed by practical exposure as well. So far four batches have been trained as part of this program. The program is being conducted by ZEISS ExceLens Academy in Bangalore. This institute provides all round training to the optical staff to ensure better dispensing.

What does the program include?

The ZEISS Vision Advisor (ZVA) program is a 10 days residential course followed by 2 months of on job training. Purpose of the program is to train a fresh/new resource on optical dispensing and retail and make a trained deployable resource available to the ECP. The training modules in this program include science of eye, common refractive errors & solutions, all about lenses, basics of lens manufacturing – lab visit, frame & facial measurements and dispensing – practicals, ZEISS company & products overview, basics of optical retailing- Sales & Service and Luxury Retail, communication & grooming and other areas as well.

The ZEISS Vision Experts Course is for those who already have the experience and are keen to learn more on how to improve the business in their optical store.

The program is expected to help opticians achieve better sales and higher levels of customer satisfaction.Candidates who have completed the course are also awarded certificates recognising their qualification.

Speaking about the program, Mr Srinivasan Parthasarathy, DM, ZEISS VISION CARE said, “One of the biggest challenges faced by ECP in his business expansion is the availability of a trained and skilled counter slaes staff. This program is designed to address this business challenge. We have seen very encouraging results from the last 4 batches.”
