Ray-Ban and Meta have officially launched their second generation of their smart glasses, undergoing a significant overhaul both in design and technology. Originally called Ray-Ban Stories, these new smart glasses have been rebranded as Ray-Ban | Meta to highlight their enhanced “smart” features.
The classic Wayfarer style remains, with the addition of a new Headliner style and a broader selection of frame colors. Customers can now mix and match frames and lenses using the Ray-Ban remix platform, which offers over 150 variations. Notably, the glasses introduce a transparent frame option for those seeking a unique look.
Under the hood, the glasses boast a Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 Platform processor with 32GB of storage, capable of storing up to 500 photos and 100 30-second videos. Lens options range from sun and polarized to clear transitions, and prescription lenses.
A significant enhancement is the inclusion of Meta AI technology, a first for smart glasses, offering a built-in personal assistant that evolves with user interaction.
Another standout feature is the ability to livestream to social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram using an ultra-wide 12 MP camera and a five-mic system, enabling real-time sharing of high-quality photos and 1080p videos. Charging capacity has been improved.
The development of these smart glasses was a collaborative effort between EssilorLuxottica and Meta, driven by a shared vision to seamlessly merge hardware and software. Despite the challenges encountered during the development process, the end result represents a harmonious blend of style and technology, promising to elevate everyday experiences for users.
