SILMO, the international optics and eyewear trade fair in Paris, drew to a close in an undoubtedly positive atmosphere. The 48th edition of SILMO took place on 25-28 September at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre. A key business platform for the profession, the event featured four dedicated exhibition areas presenting the latest fashion trends, technological innovations and progress in the medical field. This year’s edition of the scientific symposium examined all available resources relating to visual efficiency.Â
A total of 34,250 professionals visited this year’s event. The international clientèle continued to be in majority; 57% of visitors came from around the world and 43% were French opticians, who turned out in greater numbers this year. In terms of exhibitors, the event witnessed a participation of 892 members including 75% from other countries. Even the total exhibition area increased to 33,300 square meters, which translates to a rise of 5.3%.
Over the years, the event has successfully emerged as an extremely coordinated symposium, enhanced by a number of technical workshops which are appreciated and well-attended by opticians.
