The session on Ophthalmic lenses for sports by Ms. Ananth Lakshmi was a very detailed one and it covered points like what can be an ideal eyewear for sports for those who want to sustain in the sport and win it, the thin and ultra-light lenses with superior coatings and tints for more comfort and protection, the normal, mid, high and ultra-high index lenses and their specialities, polycarbonate lenses, different technologies used in the processing of lenses viz., WAVE, nanoptix, synchroneyes, different kinds of coatings for correction, protection and prevention, how to protect our eyes from blue light, importance of polarised lenses for sportspersons and light intelligent lenses.
The second session, focussed on frames and sunglasses, was presented by Mr. Damanjot Singh. It had a lot of information on the different kinds of frames, sunglasses and major brands operating in this growing segmentand how optical business owners could enhance their business potential by talking and analysing the requirements of the sporting aspects of our clients.
The third session was on contact lenses session by Mr. Mohammed Nooruz Zaman. about special sports vision lenses to enhance contrast, benefits of using daily disposable modality, advantages of contact lenses in sports, sport-specific lens choice. This session also covered contact lenses for dynamic sports and risk sports and the advantages of silicone hydrogel lenses and gas permeable lenses for sportspersons.

Khyati Kapadia of ESSILOR emphasised on how the performance in different sports can be enhanced with the right ophthalmic lens. She provided knowledge on the WAVE and Nanotech Technology, and how the use of Polarised and Light intelligent lens can add to
a better score.
The next session on CONTACT LENS was taken by Aksha Shetty – a teacher at Goa Medical College. In her own cheerful and bubbly style she conveyed the importance of having the right type of contact lens
in sports.
The next session was held by Jude Menezes who emphasised on the various branded sunglasses that are available and how the right sunglasses can avoid eye injuries during sports. Of particular interest was the session he had on taking the right measurement of the nose (length, breadth and width on both sides as well as the eyelashes) to ensure that the best fit is provided.
