Silhouette Born On Earth. Worn In Space

Silhouette Born On Earth. Worn In Space

Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Titan Minimal Art

Some ideas remain unsurpassed even many years after they were created and they inspire people across generations. Titan Minimal Art is a perfect example of this. In 1999, the eyewear market was changed forever with what was probably the most famous rimless glasses in the world.

More than any other glass, Titan Minimal Art embodies everything that Silhouette stands for minimalism, lightness, quality, and design. To date, it has inspired more than 12.4 million people in 100 countries and beyond. Titan Minimal Art has been space-certified since 2000 and has regularly supported space missions as a crew member ever since.

When a strong, visionary company focuses all its innovation and passion on producing feather-light rimless glasses, it produces something that the world has never seen. 25 years ago, Silhouette achieved just that.

With the Titan Minimal Art, designer Gerhard Fuchs developed a minimalist masterpiece without any screws or hinges. Their debut in 1999 marked a revolutionary milestone in the history of rimless eyewear.

Within a very short space of time, Titan Minimal Art became an icon and the first choice for visionaries and design enthusiasts.

But how does it actually create an icon?

Glasses only become an icon when they touch not only faces but also hearts. When the people who wear it love it, are enthusiastic about it every day, and talk about it with others. After the Titan Minimal Art collection launched in 1999, letters were received from people all over the world, thankful for the unprecedented comfort and outstanding design.

A short time later, a leading space organisation became aware of the glasses and decided to equip astronauts with the Titan Minimal Art on their missions. After all, in space, it comes down to a clear field of view, minimalist design, and structural integrity. Not only do glasses have to be ultra-light, stable, and flexible but they also can’t contain any components that could come loose and thus endanger safety on board a space station.

2 Grams In Space

Astronauts praise the unparalleled adaptability of Titan Minimal Art, which can withstand even extreme conditions. In recognition of its countless missions and contributions to space travel, Titan Minimal Art has been awarded the Certified Space Technology™️ seal an award given by the Space Foundation to aerospace innovators.

The Best Of 25 Years And Innovative Details

In 2024, Silhouette is celebrating the icon with a new collection that combines the best of the past 25 years whilst also adding innovative details. The new models feature new lens finishing techniques, a more delicate nose bridge, and even more easily adjustable titanium temples with extra flex zones.

Glasses wearers can choose between modern and classic shapes and colours. The palette ranges from galaxy-inspired green, blue, and violet to timeless tones such as gold, rose gold, and silver. The four new highlight models, named after constellations, reflect the current zeitgeist: A partial colour groove and gradient-coloured lenses add the perfect finish. The collection opens up a new dimension of styling.

An Eye On The Future

Titan Minimal Art performs on earth and beyond. It symbolises the past, present, and future of the Silhouette brand and is also the benchmark for timelessly modern eyewear design.
