SOP Celebrates 10 Years!
Started to raise the standards of practice in eye care services, Society of Opticianry Practitioners (SOP) recently celebrated its 10th year anniversary at the Intercontinental Singapore
Society of Opticianry Practitioners (SOP) was established in 2005 with a vision to raise the standard of practice and gradually improve the level of eye care services provided in the country. Till date, SOP has spearheaded the success of its objectives by conducting educational seminars, hosting charity events as well as establishing the code of conduct for optometry professionals and a host of other initiatives directed towards the cause of improving standards of eye care.
This month, SOP celebrated ten years of its inception with a gala dinner hosted at Intercontinental Singapore at the Bugis Grand Ballroom on Level 2. The event was attended by 220 guests which included its members as well as trade partners and emerged as an excellent networking platform for professionals from various parts of the country.
During the celebration, SOP also signed an MOU with the team from Essilor Singapore. As a result of this association, Essilor will partner and support SOP for the advancement of optometry by helping in the continuation of primary eye-care professional education for practitioners in Singapore.
As of now, it is mandatory for license practitioners to attend continuing education courses and collect points for renewal of their license. Member of Parliament and Advisor to SOP, Dr Lim Wee Kiak was the chief guest for the occasion. In the years to come, SOP will continue to provide a platform for both Opticians & Optometrist through collaborative effort of delivering quality education and training guidance for uplifting the eye care standards in the region.
