UV Rays And Our Eyes

India Vision Institute in association with VisionPlus Magazine is organising a panel discussion on ‘UV Rays And Our Eyes’ since July is the UV Safety Month.

About the panel discussion

UV rays are extremely harmful to our eyes. Research shows a correlation between long-term exposure to UV rays and ocular pathologies such as Cataract, Pterygium, Pinguecula. The discussion will aim to cover the essential steps to save our eyes from UV rays and the role of sunglasses in UV protection. It will also discuss the options available for UV rays protection in eyes with high refractive error.

Ananthalakshmi currently heads the Education and Professional Services at Essilor India Pvt Ltd and is a Certified Essilor Academy trainer for Technical & Retail Business courses. She is also a senior trainer for internal members at her organisation. With a vast working experience in the eye care sector ranging from clinical practice to corporate sector and especially in the spectacle lens and contact lens industry, she has trained over 2000 eye care practitioners both in India and Srilanka. Ananthalakshmi obtained her Optometry degree from Elite School of Optometry and also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management.

Rathindra is presently heading the training function at Carl Zeiss India Pvt Ltd. He completed Bachelor of Optometry from West Bengal University of Technology and obtained a Fellowship in Optometry from The Eye Foundation, Coimbatore. He has over 13 years of work experience in multiple disciplines such as training & development, clinical optometry and sales excellence in various healthcare companies.

Reshma is presently managing the Professional Services at Hoya Lens India Pvt Ltd. She obtained her Optometry degree from Lotus College of Optometry and has over a decade of work experience as a consultant optometrist in the retail sector. She has conducted several trainings for eye care professionals to empower their dispensing skill and knowledge.


Murtuza E Madraswala

Murtuza E Madraswala currently heads the Professional Services for offline stores at Lenskart. He completed Diploma of Optometry from Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Government Ophthalmic Hospital, Chennai, Bachelor of Optometry from Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Allahabad and Masters from Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Institute of Optometry, Chennai. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD on Dispensing Optics at the University of KwaZulu Natal. He has vast work experience at the healthcare, retail and corporate sector.
