FGX Lays Off 341 Employees in Rhode Island

FGX International, part of EssilorLuxottica, is laying off 341 workers at its headquarters in Smithfield, Rhode Island,USA, the Providence Journal reports.

The company filed notice of the layoffs with the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training. The affected employees are non-union, the Journal reports.

FGX describes itself as “the world’s leading designer and marketer of non-prescription reading glasses, optical frames and sunglasses brands.” It boasts of an impressive portfolio of established, highly recognized eyewear brands including Foster Grant, Sight Station, Magnivision, Gargoyles, Corinne McCormack and Solar Shield.

FGX International also holds licenses for brands such as Ironman, Body Glove, Disney, Reebok, Nine West and Panana Jack.
