Luxottica Group, a leading eyewear manufacturer acquires Barberini SPA, the Italian glass lens maker! With this acquisition, the group is expected to reinforce technological leadership in high-quality sun lenses
One of the biggest distributors of fashion, sports, and luxury eyewear, Luxottica Group acquired Barberini SPA, the optical glass sun lens manufacturer on June 22, 2018.
The strategy behind this acquisition is supposedly the group’s new strategy to focus upon ‘made in Italy’ quality. According to sources, the transaction is valued at approximately Euro 140 million.
Barberini is said to be synonymous with world excellence in glass lenses, which is key to the success over time of the iconic models like Ray-Ban and Persol and an essential component for many luxury eyewear collections.
