IVI – VisionPlus Panel Discussion on Vision & Autism Spectrum Disorder
On 27th April, India Vision Institute in association with VisionPlus is organizing a panel discussion on ‘Vision & Autism Spectrum Disorder’.
List of topics for discussion:
i. How vision impairment in autistic population has an influence in their development
ii. Prevalence of autism and associated vision problems in India
iii. Autistic behaviors to note, which are markers for early detection of underlying vision problems
iv. Comprehensive eye examination of patients with ASD
v. Role of vision therapy in improving the quality of life of patients with ASD.

Dr. Sahithya Bhaskaran graduated in medicine from JIPMER, Puducherry, MS from Madras Medical College followed by fellowship in Paediatric at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai. She currently works as Medical Consultant, Paediatric Ophthalmology & Adult Strabismus Services
Aditya Goyal
Aditya Goyal graduated from the Elite School of Optometry and completed M.S. In clinical optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Salus University. He is also a fellow of COVD and is pursuing PhD and fellowship of NORA at present. Aditya Goyal, presently is the Principal of Sankara College of Optometry, Bangalore and also an adjunct faculty at Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Salus University, USA. Being interested in optometric education, he serves as President on the board of ASCO, India. He is a member of the task force created by Government of India to work on standardizing the curriculum and practice of optometry in India.
Nivedha Santharam
A graduate of Sankara Nerthralaya, Chennai, Nivedha Santharam specializes in binocular vision and vision therapy with special interests in Cerebral Palsy, Delayed visual maturation, Amblyopia, Squint, Dyslexia, ADHD. She is one of the very few Indians who holds a Fellowship in Behavioral Optometry from the prestigious College of Optometrists in Vision Development (FCOVD), USA. She currently works as vision therapist at KidsCare Neuro-Paediatric Centre
Preeti Sharma
Preeti Sharma is a Pediatric Faculty Optometrist specialized in Pediatric Optometry, Orthoptics and Binocular Vision Therapy. She began her career in pediatric optometry in 2011 at Dr Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital, New Delhi where she was part of “Project Prakash” team on Visual Development in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), United States. Preeti Sharma is also Incharge of Myopia Clinic COE, faculty of Binocular Vision and member of Clinical Research team at the hospital.
