‘Eye Health in a Changing World international’ on 3rd and 4th October 2020

The India Vision Institute is scheduled to host ‘Eye Health in a Changing World international’ conference which is on 03rd and 04th October 2020. It will renew focus and attention on eye health.

Global and national experts convene virtually at IVI conference, 03rd-04th October to focus attention on eye health and vision impairment.  The two-day conference, with eight pre-conference workshop sessions on October 2, will include top experts speak at keynote sessions, panel discussions, and parallel tracks. 

The conference is dedicated to the memory of late Professor Brien Holden, who was one of the initiators of India Vision Institute. The conference, with the support of a host of national and international associations, institutions and optical companies including Luxottica Group and Essilor, will address issues of global and national eye health issues.

“The international conference will be a major event in this year’s eye health calendar and will include talks and presentations by eye health speakers from India and around the world. The conference will look at, and lay stress on, eye health issues amid the current preoccupation with COVID,” said IVI’s CEO, Vinod Daniel.

“Over three days, registered participants from India and 36 countries will gather virtually for three days for panel discussions on themes of great relevance. The conference will include keynote speakers, oral and poster presentations, and over 50 exhibitors participating in a virtual trade fair,” added Mr Daniel.

The keynote session on Conference Day 1, October 3, will include talks on ‘Eye health for all: Where does India stand and the way forward’ by Dr GN Rao, Founder-Chair, LVPEI, ‘World Report on Vision and the Sustainable Development goals’ by Peter Holland, CEO, International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB),  ‘Creating Access to Eye Care in the post-COVID world’ by Prof Kovin Naidoo, Senior Vice President, Social Impact: Africa & Latam and Advocacy, Essilor International, and ‘Integrated people-centred Eyecare – The Way Forward’ by Dr Alarcos Cieza, United Head, Sensory Functions, Disability and Rehabilitation’, WHO.

Day 1, October 03rd, will include discussions on, among other topics, the World Report on Optometry and ‘Vision and Road Safety’. Also featured will be a discussion on ‘Contact Lens Practice post COVID’, ‘Optometry in Asia’ and ‘Effective Health Communication’. Talks by Luxottica and Essilor will be a feature. 

Day 2, October 04th, will have talks on topics such as ‘Changing Lives through Philanthropy in Eyecare’, ‘Enabling Access – Spectacle to Every Indian’, ‘Myopia Control’, ‘Beyond Vision Centres – Accessible Eyecare’, ‘Optometry Practice in India’ and ‘Principles of Evidence-Based Practice’. This conference will include 55 Oral Presentations and 73 Poster Presentations.
