For Spring/Summer 2013, Gucci presents the Bamboo sunglasses, a new and precious interpretation of the renowned icon of the House.
Bamboo is one of Gucci’s most distinctive signature motifs and a material that has historically been used by its Florentine artisans since 1947: the design became an iconic example of the acumen of Gucci’s craftsmen who were pushed to invent clever solutions to war-time rationing of materials.
The sunglasses blend tradition and innovation to reflect the House’s concept of contemporary luxury. The two models feature a 70s-inspired, pilot-shaped metal frame embellished with bamboo details on the bridge of the men’s model and on the bridge and on the temples of the women’s model.
The bamboo elements are the result of special treatments in Gucci’s Florentine laboratories working heating and bending techniques that ensure perfection in detail, creating the utmost expression of tradition and excellence that has always characterized the House’s creations.
The Bamboo sunglasses are adorned with the engraved Gucci logo on the inside of the temples and are available in exclusive colours: gold with shaded mirrored brown lenses and dark ruthenium with grey shaded mirrored lenses. The chocolate-brown leather hard case bears the gold Gucci logo.
