Participation Rules

Participation Rules

  • Limited availability of team slots. Teams will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis.

  • The last date for Associations to confirm their participation, with payment of the registration fee is Jun 15, 2023.

  • To participate in the event, interested opticians can contact their local Optical Association before June 01, 2023. Associations can include players from across their state, even if they represent only a city.

  • To register, participants must submit their name, store name, and designation to their zonal optical association. For example, Players from Maharashtra-based optical stores can contact the Mumbai Optical Association.

  • Individual team selections would be conducted by the respective associations, at their discretion.

  • In the absence of a prominent Optical Association in a state, individual opticians can form Independent Teams for the zone and register (subject to consent by the organisers).

  • Associations are required to confirm their 16-member team (11 playing members + 4 substitutes + 1 team manager) latest by Sep 30, 2023, following their internal selection process.

  • It is not mandatory for a team member to be a member of the association. Associations at their discretion can include non-member players in their teams. But they need to be essentially part of the Optical Industry.

  • It is the sole responsibility of the respective Association to validate that each of their players has been actively employed in the eyewear retail industry for at least the last 6 months, or the team may be disqualified.

  • All participants must wear the cap, jersey, and track pants provided by the organization, as well as appropriate cricket shoes. The organization will provide cricket bats on match days, but players may bring their own if desired.

  • Each participating Association is allowed one Team Partner as a sponsor (contact the organiser for details). Branding with the team logo for this would be limited to the terms set by the organisers. No unauthorised brands or logos can be promoted or associated with the tournament or the team unless agreed upon in writing by the organisers.

  • Associations are permitted to charge players a participation fee, not exceeding INR 10000 per player.

  • Participants must exhibit proper behaviour on and off the ground, treating the umpire and opponents with mutual respect.

  • Optical stores with multiple branches in different zones may choose one zone to represent.

  • Once registered with a specific team, players cannot change their team in the current year. They can however be part of another team in the subsequent VPL tournament if more than 3 months would have elapsed since they officially left the last team.

  • All participants must respect their team management’s decisions and schedule, arriving punctually. The consumption of alcohol or any tobacco products is strictly prohibited, and those caught doing so will not be permitted to participate.

  • The respective Association will be responsible for their players’ health and safety during the game, with the organization providing a basic medical kit for any injuries that may occur.

  • Travel, accommodation and ancillary costs to participate in the tournament will be borne by the participating Association or independent team.

  • Food and refreshments for playing members will be provided at the venue during the matches.

  • All players must have a basic understanding of the game rules and follow them to prevent confusion or misunderstandings.

  • Organisers reserve the right to accept, reject or replace a team or its players, or modify the rules and format of the game at its own discretion.
