The 16th China (Shanghai) International Optics Fair ended its three-day exhibition of showcasing fashionable eyewear and advanced technology from both local and international markets. Repeating the grand venue of Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Centre, SIOF took to the limelight this year from 24th to 26th of February, 2016. Endorsed by China’s Ministry of Commerce as one of the most prestigious exhibitions of the country, and by China National Light Industry Council as 1 of the 10 most distinguished exhibitions of the light industry of China, SIOF is the most sizeable optical trade fair of Asia.
SIOF 2016 occupied all the 4 exhibition halls with a stunningly massive gross exhibition area of over 80,000 square meters, of which Hall 2 was the prestige international product hall. Halls 1, 3 and 4 accommodated iconic Chinese exhibitors. In order to realise the global recognition of Chinese eyewear designer brands and to parallel achievements of international counterparts, the basement concourse was deployed as the Chinese ‘Fashion Designers’ Masterpieces Exhibition Hall’ while Hall 4 took on the important role of ‘Boutique Gallery’, both designated to showcase China’s best design rationale and innovative eyewear to all guests and visitors, local and overseas alike. And to better serve international exhibitors, SIOF 2016 incorporated Procurement Zone in the venue to facilitate buyers to place orders on their desired products after viewing onsite.
Renowned international exhibitors who acquired space in the Procurement Zone in addition to their booth area included 101 Studio, Flair, Kalla, Levis, Luxottica, Porsche, Ports and Silhouette.
The event witnessed participation from 275 international exhibitors from 23 countries and regions, a total of 409 global brands and 625 Chinese exhibitors. With regards to the international group participation, Korea Optical Industry Support Centre and Korea Optometric Association supported the event. A total of 48 Korean exhibitors attended the event along with regulars such as Bando, Interojo, World Trend and GEO. And from the aggressive global exhibitors, 15 major German players like Buhler, Carl Zeiss, ic!berlin, Lunor, Markus-T, Menrad, Mykita, Porsche Design, Rodenstock, Satisloh, Schneider, etc. fully supported SIOF 2016.
