“By treating and preventing blindness at a young age, a life-time of blindness can be prevented. While controlling of childhood blindness is a matter of utmost priority, unfortunately in India, the infrastructure to deal with the situation remains inadequate. The Paedisight workshop is a small step in filling this gap,” said Mr Vinod Daniel, CEO, India Vision Institute (IVI).

The three-day workshop focused on binocular vision anomalies; vision therapy: principles & management for strabismic & non strabismic disorders; latest trends in amblyopia management and visual information processing disorders: diagnosis & management

“Dearth of updates on the recent advancements in optometric clinical practice led to this workshop. The purpose was to introduce Indian optometry to the latest in paediatric field that is happening in the developed optometry practices, and hence kindle the desire to ask for more. I feel the experiment has been successful and we were able to find a niche group who would be the torch bearers of vision therapy and vision training in days to come,” Mr Aditya Goel noted on the successful conclusion of the workshop.

With support from Optometry Giving Sight and the Brien Holden Vision Institute Foundation, IVI offered registration scholarship worth INR 7500 each to eleven optometry educators and practitioners to participate in the workshop
