iZoom is a software that allows low vision patients to quickly magnify the images and text on their computer, without having to go through a complicated installation process
iZoom lets users not only choose the level of magnification they prefer, but it also allows them the ability to change text/background colours (to reduce glare and improve contrast), increase mouse pointer size, realign web pages, and even have their documents, emails and web pages spoken out loud to them.
The software is run directly from a flash drive; there is no need to have administrator rights to permit downloading the software onto a computer. This means users can access iZoom on a personal or a shared computer (at a library, senior center, or computer lab).
iZoom works on any laptop or PC that has a Microsoft Windows operating system and starts up immediately after inserting the flash drive into the USB port of the computer. (Minimum requirements: OS: Windows XP/Vista (32/34 bit); Free disk space: 500MB; Memory: 1GB RAM.) iZoom is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 8.
It also features a short wizard that quickly and easily lets users select their magnification and viewing preferences from among the most common options. Once selected, iZoom then opens and magnifies whatever is on the user’s screen (using the options selected). When done, users simply remove the flash drive from their computer.
