Maui Jim’s Kahoma Sunglasses With Vintage Style

A wayfarer that makes a statement on smaller oval or heart-shaped faces

This summer, the sun is shining on 1950s vintage style – especially in eyewear, where the wayfarer shape is getting a makeover with high-grade frame materials, trend-setting colours and high-tech lens technologies.

1950s-Inspired-Style-from-Maui-Jim-Kahoma-4A new addition to its line of retro-inspired sunglasses, Maui Jim, will debut Kahoma (Style #285, $229 US MSRP) a wayfarer that makes a statement on smaller oval or heart-shaped faces.

All Maui Jim sunglasses feature the company’s nine-layer PolarisedPlus2® lens technology that cuts 100 percent of UV rays and 99.9 percent of glare from above, below and behind each lens. Maui Jim embeds three rare earth elements in its lenses to improve definition and depth perception while allowing you to see true, vivid colours. Kahoma’s lenses are made from SuperThin (ST) Glass that is 20 percent lighter and thinner than conventional glass lenses.

This style is part of the company’s MauiGradient™ collection of sunglasses with lenses that are darker at the top of the lens; then gradually get lighter towards the bottom without losing polarisation efficiency. Maui Jim also offers prescription polarised single gradient lenses.

Kahoma comes in three colour options:

  • Gloss Black with Neutral Grey lenses for bright, sunny days;
  • Honey Tortoise with HCL® Bronze lenses suitable in variable light conditions; and
  • Tortoise with Gloss Black Temples and HCL Bronze lenses.

The saddle-style fixed nose bridge has embedded rubber nose pads for comfort and stability. Kahoma also has anticorrosive spring hinges. This high-grade nylon style has an eye size of 53, DBL of 121, temple of 139 and a six-base curvature resulting in an ultra-comfortable frame.
