Optometry Council Of India celebrates World Sight Day, 2016

This year’s World Sight Day was celebrated by optometrists all across India. 

The activity was carried out in collaboration with Indian Optometry Federation and Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry, India, and was supported by three industry sponsors: Alcon, Bausch & Lomb and Coopervision, India through a public awareness campaign along with 2000 participants.

Due to the enthusiasm of optometrists all around the country other cities also conducted awareness walks and OCI supported the same by providing their banners.

New Delhidelhi-1

The event was conducted by local partner: Indian optometry Federation (IOF) and Amity University on 15th October 2016. Around 200 optometrists participated along with students of Amity University and optometrists from neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana.

 

Mumbaimumbai

The event was conducted with the local partner, Lotus College of optometry on 15th October 2016. The walk commenced from Mithibai College. Renowned optometrist Ms. Kunda Ganatra flagged off the event. 250 optometrists along with members from Rotary club, opticians in Mumbai and students of Lotus college participated.

Chennaich-1

In Chennai, the event was conducted in partnership with Optometry Association of Tamil Nanbargal (TN) on 16th October 2016. 750 Students and professionals attended the walk. Founder of Optometry Association in India Sr Optom Mr Rajini Turakhia flagged off the walk. Dr Krishna Kumar, Dr Rajeswari, Dr Viswanathan and all HOD and faculties along with students from M N hospital RIO-GOH, SN, Sankara, Pammal, Vasan, Agarwal and Optoms from outside Chennai were the participants.

Punepune-1

DY Patil College organised an energetic awareness walk on 15th October 2016 with approximately 80 students. The walk was taken around Sant Tukaram Nagar public area of Pimpri.

Ludhiana

Around 150 optometrists participated in the awareness walk on 15th October 2016. The attendees, included optometry students of Sankara College of Optometry, practising optometrists, Lions club members, Peddler’s club and young enthusiasts.

Gujarat

Bhartimaiya College of Optometry conducted an eye-care awareness walk on 13th October 2016. 150 optometrists participated in the walk, who were members of Surat optical association, optometrists from various colleges who are practising optometry.

Shillongshillong

Bansara College of Optometry celebrated World Sight day on 13th October 2016, through an awareness walk in which 150 students and optometrists participated.

Calicut

AL SALAMA and RAYHAN College of Optometry in Calicut collectively celebrated the World Optometry Day on 14th October through an awareness walk by optometrists in which 200 optometrists participated.
