15th Daegu International Optical Show (DIOPS 2016), which will be held from April 21st to 23rd, 2016 will witness the participation of global eyewear companies from Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, France and others. The show claims to be the largest and only optical show in Korea hosted in Daegu where Korea’s first optical industry was born 70 years ago. Daegu is also home to the country’s leading optical companies. The event is hosted by the Daegu Metropolitan City and jointly organised by the Korea Optical Industry Support Centre and the Korea Optometric Association. Co-organisers include the Asian Federation of Optical Associations, Korea Optical Industry Cooperative, Korea Optical Fashion Industry Association and the Korean Society of Vision Science, amongst others.diops-left-side-in-an-editorial

Initiated with an aim to promote competitive Korea eyewear to the world and enhance domestic market activation, DIOPS has established its reputation as a global optical show where more than 1,500 buyers from 30 countries visit every year. Infact, it’s also the only global optical show where one can witness a convergence of the region’s opticians, optometrists, retailer, chain store owners and everyone under one roof. In addition to the excellent networking platform for business owners, DIOPS also conducts various programs as part of the event that aid in keeping the members of the trade updated with the latest trends in the domain.

DIOPS 2016 is an effort to promote new products, new material, new design and brand of exhibitors. From this year, DIOPS secretariat will also be introducing a special zone named ‘THE BRAND’ to promote the latest in designer eyewear in Korea. Similar to DIOPS 2015, this year’s event will include a grand launch show for the guests in addition to inviting the media to interact with the brand owners. Other highlights of the event include the DIOPS Fashion show, Overseas Buyer Tour, as well as the Global Optometry Conference (GOC) and a lot more to keep the participants engaged. Overseas buyers choosing to visit the competition will also be provided accommodation by the organisers. As part of DIOPS 2016, the organisers will also host Korea Eyewear Design competition.

The event provides a great opportunity to discover new trends and enhance networking by grasping trends in technology and in the global optical industry market. The exhibition products include frames, lenses, sunglasses, contact lenses, sports glasses, reading glasses, optical instruments, frame & lens processing equipment, optical measuring machine, display cases, lens cleaners, cases & accessories, etc.
