Eyecare professions’ leading show celebrates 30 years of contributions and impact
The 30th annual International Vision Expo & Conference East will be held in April this year from 14th to 17th (Education: April 14-17; Exhibition: April 15-17) in New York. The worldwide conference and exhibition for eyecare and eyewear, are trade-only events that have drawn more than 30,000 eyecare professionals each year.
Throughout its 30-year history, International Vision Expo, in partnership with Reed Exhibitions, has supported efforts by The Vision Council to develop programs and initiatives that position the industry for success and expand patient awareness of eyecare and eyewear services and products.
Since 2014, Vision Expo has been a proud partner of the Think About Your Eyes campaign, which has made strides in raising patient awareness about the importance of annual eye exams. To date, campaign efforts have contributed to 1.15 million additional, incremental eye exams.
With its inception in 1986, Vision Expo location in New York City has become home to dozens of related events taking place during the week of Vision Expo, many of which support major charitable causes. Additionally, Vision Expo works with several charities as part of its Affiliate Partner program.
“For 30 years Vision Expo has cultivated a vibrant event in which the global eyecare community can come together for the betterment and progress of the profession, the industry, and the health and quality of life of patients,” adds Tom Loughran, industry vice president, Reed Exhibitions. “Every member of this community, young professional or industry veteran, has something unique and important to contribute.”
Celebrating 30 years of contributions to the vision community, International Vision Expo & Conference announces its inaugural class of Visionaries, recognising a new generation of change-makers. Vision Expo launched its Visionaries campaign in 2015 to showcase the stories and achievements of individuals and groups working to make a difference and push progress for the eyecare and eyewear professions. This year’s Visionaries unveiled leaders and creative powerhouses who represent innovation and entrepreneurship, and are strongly dedicated to vision care, fashion and technology.
“These visionaries represent the expansive network of creative talent, leadership and innovation within the Vision Expo community,” says Tom Loughran, industry vice president, Reed Exhibitions. “These Visionaries set the standard of excellence for the vision community and are characteristic of the contributions and achievements of every single individual at Vision Expo where tens of thousands of professionals gather year-after-year. Vision Expo is where visionary ideas and visionary leaders are born.”
