Opticians from Ahmedabad hobnobbed in the annual general meeting of the Ahmedabad Optical Association and attended motivational workshops

The Ahmedabad Optical Association held its annual general meeting on August 3, 2014. Members of the association came forward in full strength to attend the meeting. The meeting entailed discussions, optic vision exhibitions and motivational workshops. Discussions were held to keep tabs on the recent developments in the industry and brainstorm better ways to further the cause of the association in a way that the opticians could benefit in terms of both income and loyalty of their customers.

Apart from the usual socialising with their peers, opticians also got a thorough insight into the current industry trends and the potential of growth in the Indian markets. A lot of discussions were held to brainstorm better ways to further the cause of the association in a way that the opticians, who were a part of the group, could benefit in terms of both money and loyalty of their customers. To conclude the event, a plan was charted out to facilitate the functioning of the association for the next year in a manner that would help it grow in terms of size and the benefit it provides to its customers.

This meeting also served as a social gathering not just for the opticians but also for their family members who accompanied them. Apart from bonding with opticians of their own fraternity which was one of the agendas for one meeting, another meeting was specifically organised for their family members. Exhibitions on optic vision was held as a part of the meeting for overall development of optical businesses in Ahmedabad and Gujarat. Also, in continuation of their trend of five years, motivational workshops were held in association with Diva Eye Institute, Essilor India and GKB Hitech Lenses Pvt. Ltd. To take the formal meeting to a rather informal do of sorts, a cricket tournament was also organised, which was sponsored by Alcon Vision Care India.

Siraj Bolar, Editor of optical industry’s number one fashion eyewear and eyecare magazine VisionPlus, was also present at the event as a guest speaker. He spoke about the recent developments in the optical industry and how it would directly impact the business of the opticians gathered at the meeting. Discussions about the potential of the Indian market and where it was headed vis-a-vis the global optical business was also one of the major highlights of the session. Additionally, he also shared his insights on the way opticians could make a more positive impact on the business as they were the only point of contact between the manufacturing companies and the consumers. An interactive question-answer round wrapped up the rather informative session.
