Elite School of Optometry  is one of the institutes in India to offer four year B.S. Optometry degree programme, M.Phil and PhD in optometry. EIVOC – the international conference of ESO is being conducted for three days once in five years, as a scientific feast with clinical and research workshops, symposia, plenary sessions, scientific presentations and posters, industry exhibit stalls, and educational meetings. The first EIVOC was conducted in August 2005 that witnessed huge success through participation from national and international delegates. With increased zeal and scientific fervour, the second EIVOC was conducted in 2010. Visionaries like Prof. Jay. M. Enoch, Prof. Vasudevan Lakshminarayanan, Dr S S Badrinath and eminent international speakers like Dr. Kenneth Ciuffreda, Dr Sarita Soni, Dr Jim Sheedy, Dr Eli Peli and many such clinician researchers contributed to the success of EIVOC. ESO has moved on to their third EIVOC preparations for the 2015. Institute claims that they have already received confirmation from key international researchers and clinicians like Prof. William J. Benjamain (the author of the famous Borish Clinical refraction), Dr Rowan Candy (Infant vision researcher), Dr Neera Kapoor, Neuro Optometry expert, Prof. Shamanna (Public health expert) and many more. Bringing scientific expertise from different parts of the world and converging diverse knowledge to enrich the minds of Optometry students and practitioners attending the EIVOC is the key mission of this meeting. Enriched knowledge and skill to make the profession grow to world class standards thus contributing to the country’s need in meeting with the visual demands of the growing population is the vision of EIVOC.

The unique features of EIVOC 2015 include photo and video contests for optometrists, clinical and research workshops by national and international delegates, lots of benefits for student participation, launching of new products and projects, participation by various corporate industries, participation by optometry associations for active educational discussions with practitioners and students apart from the regular research and clinical updates. Stalls by foreign universities and educational institutions would enable students to make their aspirations of higher studies come true. With 2015 being observed as the ‘International Light Year (IYL)’ by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), EIVOC shares its stage with the organisers of the IYL to spread and enlighten the message of light to the vision science professionals in the country. EIVOC also aims to equip the practitioners with updates on growing technology to meet and harness the diversified needs of the population seeking vision care. EIVOC 2015 is organised at The Confluence, ECR Road, Chennai on the  August 14, 15 and 16, 2015. The venue is located close to the heritage centre, Mahabalipuram and is also few miles from Pondicherry, a famous tourist destination.
