The new collection will roll out in Fall/Winter 2014 and features two unisex styles that play with colour
This season, Nike Vision will launch an optical collection in collaboration with one of today’s great basketball players, reigning MVP Kevin Durant. The collection will consist of two unisex styles : an adult optical style, the NK 7230 KD, as well as a Young Athlete design, the NK 5530 KD. The NK 7230 KD launches in October, while the NK 5530 KD will be available beginning in January 2015. Both feature Durant’s signature logo and will retail at select optical providers.
The NK 7230 KD features a classic, vintage-inspired square shape. A lightweight acetate front is complemented with injected temples, while pin hinge construction accompanies a sturdy five-barrel hinge. Rich colourations complement Durant’s logo on the inner temple. The NK 7230 KD will be available in three colour ways : Black and Noble Red; Tokyo Tortoise and Raw Umber; and Midnight Navy with Tropical Teal. The style will retail for approximately $245.
January 2015 sees the arrival of the NK 5530 KD, a versatile design ideal for teenagers and adults with petite builds. Spring hinges provide durability on the eyewear, which is also equipped with an occipital fit temple design. Like the NK 7230 KD, the NK 5530 KD also features Durant’s signature logo on the inner temple. The style will come in two colour ways : Navy, Tortoise and Tropical Teal and Black and Noble Red. The NK 5530 KD will retail for approximately $185.
“Since I wear glasses as part of my daily routine, it was a natural extension for me to become involved with eyewear,” said Durant. “This is a new venture for me, and I’m excited for fans to see the final outcome of the product. As with my footwear, I haven’t compromised any technical details for aesthetics, and vice versa.”
“With Kevin Durant’s eyewear, we wanted to play with colour,” said Sarah Von de Luft, Colour Specialist at Marchon, Nike Vision’s licensing company. “We paired classic patterns – such as tortoise – with contemporary hues to ensure that the eyewear appeals to a variety of tastes. The eyewear is fun, yet timeless – it’s on-trend, but won’t go out of style.”
