Essilor And Transitions Optical Unveil New Photochromic Lenses In Graphite Green Colour

The lenses use a patented colour science technology that provides natural vision and true colour perception with excellent clarity

In a joint effort, Essilor, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of optical lenses, and Transitions Optical have partnered to develop an exclusive product under a colour science technology that provides an enhanced colour and contrast experience through photochromic lenses. The new Transitions® Signature™ VII lenses in the iconic graphite green colour provide more natural vision, true colour perception with excellent clarity, and offer superior adaptive lens technology to patients around the world.

Using a method exclusively developed and patented, in collaboration with worldwide specialists in colour vision2, the special dye formulation of graphite green results in truer colour perception and better vision in variable and bright light conditions. Transitions Signature VII lenses are more responsive to changes in light. These lenses specifically provide immediate visual relief in more situations, are more reactive to indirect light and become darker than ever before, especially in warmer outdoor conditions.

“Our exclusive graphite green Transitions Signature VII lenses offer a superior way to see the world in a shade of green that helps things look natural, and Essilor is proud to partner with Transitions Optical to launch the latest in photochromic lens technology,” said Mr Shivkumar J, CEO Essilor India. “These lenses also enhance contrast and reduce eye fatigue and strain – common issues as eyes try to overcompensate for poor perception of colour.”

Transitions Signature VII lenses in graphite green were developed using two patented technologies : Chromatic Colour Adaptation technology and Chromea7™ technology.

Chromatic Colour Adaptation technology is a patented method used to evaluate tinted and photochromic lenses. Studies show that tinted lenses affect the transmission of colour, and when looking through tinted lenses the human brain works to re-establish true colours as part of the natural function of the human visual system. The Chromatic Colour Adaptation algorithm was used to assess various lens colours and resulted in the development of the graphite green colour, which provides more natural vision and truer perception of colours through photochromic lenses.

Chromea7 is a breakthrough 8-dye molecular technology which enables Transitions Signature VII lenses to be more reactive to indirect light and more responsive in higher temperatures.
