Media 10, organisers of 100% Optical, the UK’s new annual international trade exhibition taking place from February 16-18, 2014 at ExCeL, London, has announced it is to commission one of the UK’s largest research companies to create the industry’s most comprehensive database of UK and international Opticians and Optometrists.
The independent Optical Census, which will be conducted by telephone to Opticians and Optometrists, will enable 100% Optical to reach every active trade professional. The study will also offer a rare glimpse of current market conditions, views and trends as well as support the development of key content for the trade exhibition.
100% Optical Show Manager, Nathan Garnett said: “This industry wide initiative will provide us with the vital insight necessary to deliver an exhibition and education programme that not only meets but also exceeds the needs and expectations of all sectors of the Optical industry both here in the UK and overseas.”
Marketing Manager Saul Leese added: “We’ve spoken to many companies in the Optical industry that have incomplete lists. The survey will enable us to reach every optician in every corner of the country so we can effectively promote the event and gather important market research. In addition every exhibitor at 100% Optical will benefit from being promoted to this list.”
The Optical Census commences on Monday May 6th. Any optical professional that wants to be part of the census can go to www.100percentoptical.com and complete a brief survey. They will then be contacted for a brief interview. The census will for the first time gain greater understanding of the number of Opticians and Optometrists practicing in the UK. At the very least the census will establish every single Optician and Optometrist in the UK as well as the companies they work for, location and size. The census will also establish what they are looking for from a trade event.
Market Makers, the UK’s biggest B2B telemarketing company with clients including Microsoft, Samsung and O2 will carry out the independent survey. Business director Graham Gillett said: “We are looking forward to working on this project. To run any successful business it is vital that databases are accurate and current. Media 10’s audit of the Optical market is incredibly exciting and something the industry should do annually.”
