Mumbai Eyewear Forum organized a training seminar for local opticians on November 30, 2013 at the Rajasthan Hall, Bhayandar, Mumbai. The event was attended by several opticians and members of Mumbai Eyewear Forum.

The seminar was conducted by Management Educator and Consultant, Mr Vinod Joshi, who is also a part of Sixth Sense Management Consultants.

Also making their presence felt, were Mr Harish Gajjar – President – Mumbai Eyewear Forum, and Mr Sandeep – Secretary, along with chief guests from the Ahmedabad Optical Association; Mr Naresh Choksi – President, Mr Kanti Mali – Vice President and Mr Kalpesh Ajmera – Secretary, along with other delegates.

The core topic of discussion for the seminar was ‘Management and growing techniques of business; how to overcome crisis in the optical industry.’ Mr Vinod Joshi explained the importance of aggression, in order to survive in the competitive market, and said, “The opticians need to change their approach and their mindset, in order to achieve favourable results. In times of rapid change, opticians suffer because of ‘experience.’ Yes, because their experience stops them from experimenting, which can result in stagnation.”

IMG_3021Mr Harish Gajjar explained, “Every year, we wish to see around 30% growth in the eyewear industry. If manufacturers concentrate on the cities, there is a lot of scope for business, but proper planning is required.”

Regarding the objectives of the Forum, he said, “The Mumbai Eyewear Forum aims to become a platform for addressing several industry issues, like submitting group’s proposals to government bodies, discussing topics like return policies of goods and commission issues, etc.”

The seminar, third of its kind, generated favourable response, and saw the participation of 162 members, almost double than the participation of 83 members in the first seminar, and the Forum was certain that these numbers would keep on growing.
