7 out of 10 customers show strong to very strong interest in scratch-resistant lenses. Give your customers what they really want: hard lenses!
As of now, DuraVision Platinum (DVP) is the hardest ZEISS lenses of all time in all materials. It fulfills customer demands for hard lenses. DuraVision ® Platinum – now also for index 1.5, Photofusion and POL.
DuraVision Platinum Launch in Malaysia
The launch of the new ZEISS DuraVision® Platinum in November 2013 was celebrated in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with a Press Conference and a gala dinner. Both events, held in DoubleTree by Hilton, garnered the support of over 250 journalists and eye care practitioners.
The night highlighted the new product features of the hardest lenses ZEISS has ever made. DuraVision Platinum offers outstanding properties – it uses a process called “ion bombardment” to densely pack the ultra-thin layers of the lens and make them withstand greater forces. This makes your ZEISS lenses more tough, dirt resistant, easy-to-clean and provide enhanced anti-reflective properties.
ZEISS and Focus Point will introduce an extended 12-month warranty program; this would mean that consumers will enjoy an additional warranty of 12 months (24 months in total) without any extra costs.
What is Anti-Reflective (AR) Coating?
ZEISS invented AR coating way back in 1935. It is a coating applied on the lens surface to reduce reflectance and improve light transmission. It drastically improves the vision of the wearer.
What is new with DVP?
In our Consumer research conducted in a sample size of 3500 in China, USA, Germany and South East Asia, we found that consumers expect lenses to more robust and hard.
DVP is result of years of research and development. The earlier coatings lacked desired hardness and were prone to scratches, DVP has improved surface hardness by 60%, The surface of lenses made of organic (Plastic) material with DVP are even harder than that of Glass lenses by 35%.
It also has an inbuilt anti-static layer thereby reducing static charge build up. The surface does not attract dirt and dust adding to durability of the coating.
ZEISS has also added a layer or Hydrophobic coating in DVP, this layer does not allow water droplets to stay; hence, making cleaning much easier.
Is DVP only about hardness?
No, DVP is a combination of improvements in all the variables of a good AR coating. We have also improved the light transmission by 20% over the previous coatings.
Are there any tests to prove the claim?
ZEISS uses the measurement set up as prescribed by DIN ISO 14577 to test the surface hardness of the coating. In addition to that, ZEISS also performs several internal tests to ensure the various parameters of coating are met.
What are the reasons to buy DuraVision® Platinum?
DuraVision® Platinum offers outstanding properties – it uses a process called “ion bombardment” to densely pack the ultra-thin layers of the lens and make them withstand greater forces. This makes your ZEISS lenses more robust*, dirt resistant, easy-to-clean and provide enhanced antireflective properties.
Here are some main points:
1. ZEISS lenses with DuraVision Platinum AR coating are harder than ever – three times harder than previous generations of hard coated ZEISS AR plastic lenses, 35% harder than ZEISS AR coated mineral lenses.
2. Patented anti-static layer assures dirt-resistance of lens.
3. Super slick clean coat for easy cleaning properties.
4. Broadband AR coating with first-rate anti-reflective properties.
5. Due to the new, unique residual reflection colour in blue, 20% less luminous reflectance than conventional green AR coated ZEISS lenses.
What are the extras for consumers?
With this special launch in Malaysia, ZEISS and Focus Point will introduce an extended 12-month warranty program; this would mean that consumers will enjoy an additional warranty of 12 months (24 months in total) without any extra costs. We believe that this implementation will definitely benefit consumers during these economic times.
