Well-known for their commitment to eye care, GKB Hi-Tech Lenses provided modern and high tech facilities free of cost during the 3-day event along with 4 qualified Optometrists. All the latest eye-testing equipments were used to examine the patients with computers & auto refractormeters. Computerized screening was used for visual correction and manual screening was also conducted. Owing to the efforts of GKB Hi-Tech Lenses, it was for the first time that such a camp was organized in the region which saw the screening of over 1800 patients and provided more than 700 spectacles frames with lenses free of cost.

Speaking on this social initiative, Mr. Neeraj Gupta, Director, GKB Hi-Tech Lenses Pvt. Ltd. said, “We are extremely delighted with the overwhelming response received from the people of Uri. We were happy to welcome in large numbers not only the military jawans but also school-going children. Eye care facilities are few and non-existent in the Kashmir Valley. Moreover certain parts of the region are too remote and not traversed leaving no window of opportunity for the less privileged. Realizing this need we decided to set up an eye camp to provide free medical aid. We joined hands with the Indian army to bring the local people closer and together confront the ailing health issue. GKB Hi-Tech Lenses has always strived to give people a new vision that will help make a difference. I believe that this is our first step to achieving many more milestones and we shall continue to ring the bells of change with many more such camps in the future to support this cause.”

The event was graced by MAJ GEN VG Khandare, SM GOC, 19 INF DIV, Mr. Khawaja DC Baramulla, Brig Ravi, Cdr 19 Arty Bde, Mohd Iqbal PA to MLA URI, SDM Uri, SDPO Uri, Tehsildar Uri, ZEO Uri, BMO Uri, SHO Uri, XEN R&B Uri, Sports Officer Uri, BDO Uri and the Principals of Degree College, Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Govt Middle School and Govt Boys Higher Secondary School, Uri.
