This World Sight Day, Essilor India organised Walkathon or ‘Walk for Vision’ in 35 locations across 16 cities to raise consciousness among people regarding eye health. Activities like human chains, golf games, personal counselling, signature campaigns and leaflet distribution were hosted at this event.

“Everywhere in the world, people believe that vision is given. All of us know that vision is not given, we have to take care of it every day, every month, every year and this is one of our missions with Essilor to make sure that everyone is taking care of their vision. We are very proud to be here with you in Delhi on the World Sight Day which is gaining momentum year after year,” said Mr Hubert Sagnieres, Chairman and CEO, Essilor International.

“It’s a big day for Essilor and this kind of event is being conducted in 50 countries across the world. India is probably one of the first countries in the world to organise this World Sight Day event. At the end of the day, let’s make sure that everybody has understood how vision is important for their life and also for the well-being of their country,” said Mr Patrick Cherrier, CEO AMERA, Essilor.

Essilor“In Essilor, we have our mission ‘Improving lives by Improving sight’. On this World Sight Day, when our country is heading towards ‘Clean and Beautiful India’, let’s spread the awareness of clean and better vision,” said Mr Jayanth Bhuvaraghan, Chief Corporate Mission Officer, Essilor International.

“Essilor India is proud to participate in the global effort to raise awareness on the importance of good vision care internationally. In India, 550 million people require vision correction. They either do not have access to vision correction, are unable to afford it or are simply unaware that they might have a vision problem. Many people fail to understand the importance of regular eye checks ups and only seek treatment for eye-related problems when they occur. Yet, with 80 per cent of vision problems being preventable, there is much more we should be doing to spread this message and nip this problem in the bud,” said Mr Shivkumar J, CEO, Essilor India.
