Mykita + Maison Margiela Inspired By Historical Shapes
The Mykita + Maison Margiela collaboration welcomes a new style to the ‘Essential’ collection
Mykita and Maison Margiela are linked by a shared concept of the creative process. Their collaboration is a reinterpretation of historical forms, radical experimentation with constructions and an unconventional approach to materials.
Out of the many eyewear models Mykita and Maison Margiela have bought to life, the reduced concept of ‘Essential’ is made for experimental shapes. New model MMESSE012 may defy classification with its pentagon-cross-aviator form, but the proportions stay well balanced and flattering. An accentuated double-bridge rounds off this pure yet radical look.
A very pure and minimalistic line of glasses, the stainless steel frames are reduced to the raw material with no additive components. A thick, transparent powder coats and seals the frames giving the entire construction a convex, all-enveloping body. Inspired by historical shapes of the last century, gives ‘Essential’ this pure, radical look.
